We hope everyone had a successful hunting season and we're very excited to start the Spring Hunt Test Season!  Our 2012 Spring Hunt Test Schedule has been posted (See Events Section below).  We will be running 5 HRC tests, 4 AKC tests, 2 SRS's, and the HRC Grand in Wisconsin. 

We would like to welcome the newest addition to our staff at Best Retrievers- Derek Cade.  Derek comes from Dickson, Tennessee where he's worked that last two years as an assistant retriever trainer.  He will be training the basic obedience dogs, as well as the transitional and field dogs.  We're very happy to have him onboard with us!

The Super Retriever Series will be hosting a new event on March 29 in Huntsville, Alabama- the 4X4 Team Medley.  This event will allow teams of 4 Handlers/4 Dogs to compete against each other in 3 series... Rody and "Reed" will be joining Stephen Durrence and "Dude", Tim Thurby and "Bones", and Dorothy Rheuman and "Koal".  The event will be televised on the Versus channel in 9 thirty minute episodes.  Watch our Facebook page for updates during the event!

We are saddened to announce that GRHRCH Sir Wolfgang "Jack" Maverick QAA MH MNH lost his battle with congestive heart failure on Dec 8, 2011.  He was an amazingly talented and devoted chocolate labrador retriever that will missed dearly.  Click here to view his tribute.

We are located in Central Texas, approximately 45 minutes east of Austin.  Our property consists of 21 acres with two ponds- both of which have been technically designed to provide challenging hunting and testing scenarios for the training retrievers.  There are two kennel buildings- one with twenty-five runs (built in Fall 2006) and our most recent addition (built in Spring 2010)- 46 runs with an office and 3 storage rooms. The "Preifert" kennels in each building offer the utmost in security and comfort for your dog. Both buildings are surrounded by large oak trees, with large roll-up doors which provide an open air design for your dog during the hot Texas summer.  There are also ceiling fans that keep a constant movement of air inside the buildings.  Our training grounds are constantly being improved to provide us with the tools needed for successfully training finished hunting retrievers, and we have access to thousands of acres of training property within 30 minutes of the kennel. Our training programs are designed for preparing retrievers for the field or competition. So, if you desire both a well-mannered house companion and a stylish hunting retriever, then we are the kennel for you. We actively and successfully participate in AKC hunt tests and field trials, UKC hunt tests, the Super Retriever Series, and the World Retriever Championship.
